Without even knowing, after receiving a spinal cord injury and at age 18, Charles began to use his difficulties as opportunities. It wasn’t easy going through hours of rehab every day in order to regain only a shadow of his former strength, but since he was in Colorado anyway, why not take advantage of the phenomenal recreational therapy department at the rehab. This turned out to be one of many opportunities that were a direct result of the difficulties associated with his spinal cord injury.
